At the G20 summit on March 26, 2020, the G20 countries, together with WHO, UN, IMF, World Bank Group and other international organizations, expressed their willingness to take all necessary measures to overcome the pandemic. Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, which holds the presidency of the G20 this year, delivered a speech noting that G20 members have an obligation to extend a helping hand to developing and least developed countries to overcome the crisis and its consequences.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison also called for unity among nations in the fight against the coronavirus. According to Sky News Australia, “The prime minister is expected to push for a coordinated global economic response to the pandemic, as well as support collaborative efforts to develop a vaccine.”

The conference document calls on all international organizations, along with the private sector and philanthropic organizations, to support the measures taken. Discussions are underway on ways to provide immediate financial assistance and increase production capacity to meet the growing demand for medical products, especially the need to guarantee wide availability of medicines and related products.

The realization of the intentions of the world’s leading nations depends on the unification of citizens on the ground, where everyone feels responsible for the future of all humankind. The coronavirus forces us to move to a new level of caring for society, strengthening community ties, where everyone treats the other as himself or herself. With mutual responsibility, the economy would be focused only on meeting necessary needs. This is the way out of the crisis.
