To ensure the viability of the people of Israel, it is time to move toward a society with an ever-increasing spirit of unity.
The current conflict has forced the Israelis to set aside internal divisions and recognize the urgency of correcting a grave error. This mistake is the mutual dislike that Nature – the force of love, gift and connection that creates and sustains our reality – deliberately awakens in us, causing us to seek love, peace and unity with one another.
How can we unite with the positive qualities of love and giving that live in our connections? First of all, we need to recognize our own mutual rejection of each other and then, having overcome it, unite.
It’s an ongoing challenge. Hate won’t disappear on its own in a few weeks. To overcome it, we need to increase our love for each other by showing mutual care, support and encouragement over hate. Then, the more hate will appear, the more love will be over it.
And the intensity of love must not only match the intensity of hate – love must completely surpass it. However, unlike hate, love does not come ready-made. It needs to be built. It is born out of an ongoing effort to elevate relationships of kindness, caring, support and encouragement above our divisive endeavors.
Victory in this inner conflict will come when it is possible to elevate love over hate, unity over division, when each person manages to rise above himself, above his divisive egoistic nature. This is because, apart from man and his selfish disposition, there is only the power of love and giving.
We need to realize that we were wrong when we let our selfish desires determine our hostility toward each other. By allowing dissension to get the better of us, we have brought both ourselves and our nation to a vulnerable state. This must be clearly answered and we must begin to do what is necessary to ensure the viability of the people of Israel: no longer allowing our differences to defeat us. It is time to move towards a society with an ever-increasing spirit of unity.
