What does our future depend on?

202

Our future depends on understanding who we are, where we are, where we are going, and how we can align ourselves with the laws that guide our development. By doing this, we will find that we live in a harmonious and peaceful world.

Until the twenty-first century, people evolved according to their growing selfish impulses. Today the human ego has reached its climax, and, accordingly, people now have the opportunity to exercise free choice of their further development.

What is our free choice? It is our ability to rise above our selfish nature.

Rising above our own ego is our only free action. Everything else we do stems from our selfish impulses, acting on an involuntary program that constantly drives us toward self-interested pleasures. So by rising above self-interest, by thinking and acting for the good of others, we perform an act that is beyond all of our selfish nature. In this free action, we do not present pleasure as an end in itself, but we desire that all good be redirected toward others.

If we realize our free choice, we will rise to a new nature with a new perception and sense of eternal and perfect life.

The laws of nature will continue to play out whether we exercise free choice or not. Without our participation in this transition, however, we will experience life as increasingly bitter and painful. Our selfish desires can never be satisfied. The more they lack the pleasures they constantly seek, the more we will become entangled in a growing web of problems.

The ability to choose freely is what separates us from animals and all other parts of nature. This is why all reality was created for man: we are the only intelligent beings of nature capable of rising above our innate selfish state and conforming ourselves to the laws of nature–the laws of love, altruism, and connection.

We have a huge transition ahead of us and an even more amazing goal. The current state requires us to seek answers to the new and greater challenges we face. This is a really positive situation that we are very hopeful about.
