I heard a joke a long time ago. A mathematics teacher meets with his former student and asks: “Well, Lesha, did your knowledge of mathematics come in handy in life? You were the best student in the class." He replies: “Yes, of course, Vladimir Petrovich. One day after the rain I was walking down the street. Suddenly a very strong wind arose, and my hat was blown right into a puddle. So what do you think I did? I found a wire, bent it in the form of an integral and took out my hat.
Each of us wondered why we learned so much at school if the knowledge gained was forgotten within a couple of months after graduation?
For example, how many people can define the concept of "valency" or "logarithm"? Do you remember what lessons you studied Fermat's theorem? What does the law of electromagnetic induction say? In what year did the Battle of the Ice take place?
Approximately 150 years ago, as a result of mass industrialization, there was an urgent need to train workers, technicians and engineers - professionals of various specialties - for many new enterprises. An active workforce with a certain level of education was required. Throughout the 20th century, the school adapted itself to the needs of industrialization.
But the world has changed, and the model of schooling, as it was in the middle of the 19th century, has remained so.
The global coronavirus epidemic has unexpectedly pushed the education system towards a long overdue reform. In the conditions of social distance, the educational process around the world has moved from school to the Internet. In just a few weeks of quarantine, the virtual learning model has become familiar. Returning to school desks already seems like a relic of the past. Kids today hate school because they can't sit in class for long hours. Their perception has changed under the onslaught of gadgets. They are bored. And teachers suffer from the uncontrollability of children, they cannot transfer knowledge in a quality manner and they also begin to hate their work.
What is the role of the teacher in virtual learning?
Modern online learning platforms no longer require a teacher. Computer programs are able both to assess the level of knowledge of the student, and to provide the necessary lecture material and practical tasks for him to move on to the next level. So what happens when the teaching profession becomes a thing of the past?
The very concept of "school" - in Greek "schola" - is translated as "leisure, rest, idleness." Teenagers gathered together with their mentors and communicated, played music, explored the world, played, created. If we could take our children by time machine to Ancient Greece, it would be much more comfortable and interesting for them to study there. Why not apply this approach to the modern school?
We call great teachers those who were educators and mentors for students, but not transmitters of information and managers of the educational process.
School is a place of free development
The integral world requires radically different approaches to education . The future of a child does not depend on the quality of education and the amount of knowledge, but on the ability to find their place in society. Hence the new requirements for the teaching profession.
He should be a mentor who helps his students to perceive the world around them correctly and develop integral connections within it.
With virtual learning, children will not come to school for their usual lessons, and it will become a place of free creative development, where everyone can realize their abilities and acquire the skills necessary for life. To dream together, to play, to invent, to communicate - that's what a school is for.
Children should go on excursions, to museums, to enterprises, to hospitals, in order to get to know nature and society through impressions and direct contact. To form a friendly environment that would constantly encourage each child to learn about the world around them is an exciting task for teachers of life, not individual subjects.
In such a school, no one will be bored. Both children and their mentors will start each new day with joy, realizing that they are really creating the future.
They tried to instill elements of integral education in my school and therefore it was interesting for us to go to school and do homework, we were brought up in a close-knit team, but it was during the thaw in the country in the 60s, the last 11th grade was released, the leadership in the country and in schools changed stopped innovative methods. Only now you understand how lucky we are.
The Ministry of Education faces great challenges. Big changes are expected. We hope that the study will be accessible and interesting for both schoolchildren and students.
The modern world has grown in its need for completely new forms of education and upbringing. Education becomes not only a way of acquiring knowledge, but the awareness and mastering of the skills of integral relations in society, the development of one's individual talent for the benefit of the entire community.
The teacher is obliged to be the leading mentor, helping the students to correspond to the integral Nature, building universal friendly relations of mutual guarantee.
Today, it is imperative that everyone can freely realize their abilities and acquire the skills necessary for life.
A child needs a friendly school environment and enthusiastic teachers who will help him discover and develop his abilities.
Socialization for children is the basis of success. Integral education to help…
remote work is good under certain circumstances. No more. Children need live communication and socialization. They must learn to live in society
